NI over AI: Harnessing Your Natural Intelligence to Thrive in an AI Job Market

You’ve read the headlines. From Goldman Sachs, to the WEF to the Bureau of Labor Statistics: entry level jobs are being replaced by AI agents who can do the work of human workers faster, better and for free.

For Atlanta job-seekers right now, the transition feels terrifying. The job strategies of the past no longer seem to work. Temp agencies aren’t hiring. Your skills are no longer in demand. You’re not sure what career would be the right move or how to get training. Maybe you’re thinking about college or have already tried and failed.

The good news is transitions like this have occurred in the past and created upheaval and opportunity. Generations before you have seen similar shifts, and while some jobs disappeared, huge opportunities opened during the transition for those who were flexible and ready. For example, the introduction of email and the internet meant the disappearance of entry level jobs as mail room workers, couriers, and document handlers. In their place came jobs in software development, new media marketing and content creation. There were huge opportunities to get in on the ground floor of emerging technology and to continue in fields that were not affected.  Those who could network and stay open to new ideas were richly rewarded.

In my system NI over AI, we start by assessing your natural strengths and existing training and then plan some real-world action steps right now to get you moving. You’ll make a list of your existing network and begin to build a stronger one by community action, whether that’s joining clubs and teams, professional organizations, volunteering, or finding work in a retail job that faces the public.

In addition you’ll analyze the bigger picture, your values and what long term career options align with your values. We’ll look at new tech pathways as well as jobs in existing fields that are poised to grow.

In your work at Mission Counseling Studio, you’ll reflect on the kind of environment and peer groups you want to be a part of, to make sure your career field reflects who you want to be around and where you want to work to become your best version of yourself.

Maybe you’re thinking “I’ve tried all of that. Nothing seems to work!” The good news is I’m not a career coach. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor and am licensed and trained to diagnose and treat mental health concerns. In our work together, you’ll look deeply into what is holding you back and learn valuable skills and new ways of thinking in order to move forward in your life. And if you still need help, I can refer you to additional resources.  In addition, if you like, we can have a session with a spouse or family member, to help you build accountability and launch your plan for success.

I've seen clients go from addiction and isolation to sobriety, financial independence, and meaningful connection with others. Change is possible, and together we'll identify opportunities, build a realistic plan, and take practical steps toward a future you'll be excited about.

The Atlanta job market can be challenging, but periods of economic change also create new opportunities for people willing to take action. Working with a counselor can help you regain momentum, build accountability, and get back into the habit of taking action. Reaching out to me at Mission Counseling Studio is a great first step. Let's get started.
