Counseling vs Coaching:
Which is right for you?
What is Counseling?
Counseling (also called therapy or psychotherapy) is a licensed clinical service focused on healing. It's the right fit when you're dealing with:
Mood disorders such as anxiety or depression
Trauma or unresolved grief
Substance use and recovery
Family conflict or relationship distress
Mental health diagnoses that need clinical support
In counseling, we look at patterns, history, and the underlying roots of what's getting in your way. Jane is a licensed professional counselor in Georgia and can diagnose, treat, and provide documentation for insurance purposes.
What is Coaching?
Coaching is a forward-focused partnership built around where you want to go. It's a great fit when you're fundamentally well but feeling stuck, unclear, or ready for a change. Coaching works well for:
Young adults navigating college decisions
Professionals facing career pivots
Parents who need support in their role
Anyone who wants a thought partner, not a diagnosis
Coaching is not a clinical service and does not involve diagnosis or treatment. It's also not covered by insurance — it's a private investment in your growth.
Not Sure Which You Need?
That's what the consultation is for. We'll talk through what's bringing you in and help you figure out together which approach is appropriate.
Both counseling and coaching are currently offered on a private pay basis. For counseling services, we are happy to provide documentation you can submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement.
